The Harps Camogie Club

The Harps Senior Girls played St. Brigids in the County championship in Ballacolla on the 20th of June.

St. Brigids got off to the better start and had scored 1-1 before The Harps settled in to the game. Then Áine Mahony scored 2 points in succession followed by one from her sister Louise. St. Brigids got another point to leave the score at that stage at the Harps 0-3 to 1-2 to St. Brigids. Áine Mahony then scored her first goal of the match and soon after spun out of a tackle and flashed another shot to the back of the net in a pure stroke of genius. Louise scored another 4 points before half time to put the Harps ahead by 8 points at half time.
In the second half St. Brigids came out an scored a goal to narrow the gap. But as they did Áine scored at the other end to restore it. Again St. Brigids got a goal and again Áine answered it with one of her own. Next in to prove her worth was the baby of the Harps team, Maria Fitzpatrick who scored a lovely goal. Louise Mahony finished off the scoring with 2 more points, leaving the Harps with a convincing win on a score line of The Harps 5-9 to St. Brigids 4-2.
