Croke Park: All Ireland Final

The countdown is on to the All Ireland Intermediate Club Camogie final between Harps and Eoghan Rua of Derry.

Flags of all sizes are available to buy in the local shops.
Get those colours out and get behind the girls on the big day.

Tickets for the All Ireland Camogie Club Finals can be purchased in advance via GAA Ticket Office by logging on to www.gaa.ie; from your local club and on the day at the Hogan Stand entrance, Jones Rd and Gills Corner.

Ticket prices are Adult €15; Students/OAPS €10; Juveniles €5; Group Prices of 10 juvenile tickets €50 and two adults free.

Training

Under 10, under 12, under 16 and senior training is currently underway.

New and past players are welcome to attend all training sessions.

U16: Johnny Campion and Ross Young.

Senior: Anne Mahony, Mick Bolger, Tom Dunne and Johnny Campion.

Fun Triathlon

The Club held a fund-raising triathlon on Saturday May 8th. It consisted of a cycle, a run and a canoe and was for teams of 3 and had 14 teams taking part.

They started with a cycle from Cullohill Church car park which led to a run starting from Cullohill Hurling field then onto the Wooden Bridges for a canoe into Durrow.

Camogie President Joan O’Flynn presented the girls with their county and Leinster medals from 2009 at the Harps dinner dance in the Castle Arms Hotel.

Congradulations to our brilliant centre back Catriona Phelan on being chosen as Laois Camogie Player of the year for 2009. A natural leader with an incredable ability to read the game of camogie, she is long overdue recognition by her peers.

2009 Soaring Star Awards

Louise Mahony picked up a Soaring Star award at the 2009 camogie all stars. The Soaring Star awards are the All Stars for the Junior grade of counties. Laois had 2 recipients with Eimear Moynan of St Brigids getting an award at full back and Louise at midfield.

Feile Panel visits Four Roads

The girls who were on the Harps Feile panel made a return trip to 4 roads in Roscommon on Saturday and Sunday. The 4 Roads girls stayed in Durrow, Cullahill and surrounding areas for the 2008 and 2009 Feile’s, and invited the Harps to stay with them. All of the Harps girls had a great weekend. On arrival they played in a 6 a side blitz. They then went to settle in with their host families and prepared for the Disco that evening. The following morning, the girls parted company with their hosts after mass and went shopping in Athlone before returning home.

Woodenbridge Paddlers Raft Race

The annual Woodenbridge Paddlers Raft Race in aid of the Camogie Club was held on Sunday.
Here’s a bunch of pictures from the race, at the start by the Wooden Bridges and at the finish in Durrow.
