Laois have qualified for the Division 3 final after winning all their group games

Several Harps girls involved with the county team under the managment of former county star Joe Dollard.

2009 Soaring Star Awards

Louise Mahony picked up a Soaring Star award at the 2009 camogie all stars. The Soaring Star awards are the All Stars for the Junior grade of counties. Laois had 2 recipients with Eimear Moynan of St Brigids getting an award at full back and Louise at midfield.

Laois qualify for All Ireland Semi Final

The Laois team qualified for the All Ireland Semi Final after drawing with Antrim 2-9 each in Lougheil on Saturday. It was a tough ask for Laois having to trvael all the way to North Antrim but they showed their class in getting the result they needed to qualify.

They now play favourties Waterford in the semi final on August 8th.

Laois scorers: L Mahony 0-5 (0-2f, 0-1’45), A Mahony 0-3, T Cuddy, A O’Callaghan 1-0 each, S Fitzgerald 0-1

Down beat Laois in League Final

Down beat Laois by 0-15 to 2-8 in the League Division 3 final in Ashbourne. Down were the better team for most of the game but Laois fought back in the final 15 minutes to set up a nerve wracking finale. Unfortunately they couldn’t sneak the win. Great disappointment for the girls but they still have the championship to look forward to.

The Harps girls involved were Denise Quigley and Catriona Phelan (captain) in defence, Louise Mahony at midfield, Aine and Elaine Mahony in the forwards. Michelle Fitzpatrick came on as a sub, Claire Walsh and Aoife Donohue were also in the subs.

Laois into Division 3 League Final

The Laois camogie team have qualified for the National League Division 3 final where they will play Down on Easter Sunday in Donaghmore/Ashbourne (Meath) at 3.15pm.

Laois won 4 of their 5 league games and ended up in a 3 way play off with Offaly and Down. They beat Offaly in Kinnitty by 2-6 to 1-5 and now move onto the final.

There are a number of Harps girls involved: Louise, Elaine and Aine Mahony, Catriona Phelan (A), Denise Quigley, Michelle Fitzpatrick, Claire Walsh.
